Vic: Community order of man who shot neighbour
A Melbourne magistrate says a man who shot and injured his neighbour for mowing during
a wake will serve a six months intensive community corrections order.
Melbourne Magistrates Court heard yesterday that CAMERON ROBERT HORSEY, 30, fired an
air rifle from an upstairs window of his Bentleigh home at neighbour PETER WONG.
Pellets from the rifle hit Mr WONG, who was mowing his lawn, in the foot and lower leg.
The court heard Mr WONG had to have surgery and suffered severe pain and shock.
Mr HORSEY was drunk at the time and among a number of people at the house after a funeral.
Magistrate RODNEY CRISP yesterday described HORSEY as a grossly irresponsible person.
HORSEY pleaded guilty to charges including recklessly causing serious injury and using
a firearm on private property.
