Fed: Govt costs on Kosovars revealed

Nearly 500 Kosovar refugees remain in Australia, despite the federal goverment spending
more than $4 million to entice them to return home.

Immigration Minister PHILIP RUDDOCK says 498 Kosovars are still in Australia on an
extension of their Safe Haven visas.

They are the last of 3,924 evacuees from the strifetorn Balkans last year who were
granted special three-month visas.

Mr RUDDOCK says a further 31 babies have been born in Australia.
