Jan 06, 2011 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Harvey Norman executive chair Gerry Harvey has been the public face of a lobbying campaign by Australian retailers to have a goods and services tax exemption for imports costing less than $A1,000 abolished. However, he now says he will seek a lower profile after personal attacks on him via social networking internet services by consumers. Harvey acknowledges that while the cause is the right one, the way in which the retailers advertised it was misguided.
